Netflix is proving to be one of the biggest factors in deciding who comes out on top of this list.

With Netflix investing over half a billion US dollars in the actors on the list below, it’s no wonder the lucrative deals offered by the streaming giant are proving to be equally (if not more) important than box office revenue. An actor’s star-power is now measured by an equation of their downloads, re-watches and social media following, which suggests to streaming platforms the actor’s ability to bring in subscriptions.

According to Forbes, Netflix is expected to spend $17 billion on content this year (that includes originals and licensing) with platforms like Apple TV+ and Amazon also forking out big dollars in an attempt to wrestle a greater share of the market from the OG streaming giant’s grip. So, if there was ever any doubt, we have well and truly reached the streaming age.
