Those days are definitely behind him…

Hot off training for his return to boxing, Mike Tyson has sat down for a pretty in-depth interview, getting into nitty-gritty of his former party days. Opening up on the crazy period with self-help guru Tony Robbins, the former Heavyweight champ confessed that he was using alcohol and drugs so much that he completely forgot he was due to film scenes for The Hangover until the day before. The way he was reminded of his upcoming role is insane, meeting his fellow cast mates in the VIP section of a club for the first time the day before his first scene.

“I met the guys in a club, they were in the VIP section and I said, ‘This is where I normally sit, nobody’s normally here,'” he explained. “So I went in there, I’m checking these guys to see what they’re doing in my section. It was Zach, the other guy, and he said, ‘We’re going to be in a movie with you,’ and I said, ‘Yeah? When?’ And he said, ‘Tomorrow.'”

Pretty crazy right? I mean if you were set to star in a film you’d probably be at least semi-aware of it, but according to Tyson, his partying had gotten so intense that it completely blew past him, stating “I didn’t know as I was drinking and smoking back then, doing drugs so I didn’t know I was involved in the movie. So eventually I had to go and do the movie and it was a success.” It definitely was a success, the film becoming a mega-hit and framing Tyson as a comedic star.

This isn’t the first time Tyson has opened up on his partying during filming, saying to Yahoo Sports in 2012 that “I was a mess. I was overweight. I was a pig, high on cocaine.” He’s actually confessed to being high on the drug during several scenes as well, such as the iconic ‘In The Air’ scene below.

He’s since gotten clean, and is now set to make a return to the sport of boxing. Let’s hope we see him in the ring sometime soon…
