Almost a month after the anticipated ‘Straight Outta Compton’ movie became a reality in the form of a Red-Band trailer, fans of NWA and 90’s rap everywhere have been getting as excited as a schoolgirl at a Supre sale. Furthermore, with Kendrick’s new pro-black-rights album ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ gaining international momentum for both it’s musical and political merits, 2015 is shaping up to be the year Hip Hop makes a huge resurgence.

For some however, 2015 could prove to be a most challenging year yet. After Being shot at Chris Brown’s pre-VMA party in August late last year, Suge Knight – former rap pioneer and Death Row Records founder, was in February remanded in custody over the death and severe injury of two men, he hit with his Ford pick-up truck.

The ‘accident’ happened outside a Compton restaurant very soon after Suge had left the set of ‘Straight Outta Compton’, following an alleged on-set altercation in which he was involved. Now, more than a month after the incident. Bail has been set at a whopping $25 Million. After hearing such news, Suge Knight collapsed in Court and was taken to the hospital, making it his 3rd or 4th visit since the case opened.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, filed an almost 300 page long motion portraying Suge as a Man whose lifelong career has been closely affiliated with crime. Deeming him “physically incapable of stopping his violent criminal behaviour”. A review hearing has been set for mid April, which could either see Suge exonerated, forced to pay bail, or charged with murder and sentenced to a possible 25 year jail term.

Either way, things aren’t looking up for Suge, and with ‘Straight Outta Compton’ still in the filming stages, we’re yet to see how the outcome of this case will affect the upcoming NWA film and Suge’s personal liberty.
