If you haven’t seen Flosstradamus live before, prepare to get your ass kicked.

One of the premier acts bridging the gap between dance, hip-hop and everything in between, this Chicago duo got us sweat-drenched when they toured with Major Lazer in 2014 – and they’re back for a rambunctious headline tour this week, thanks to BBE.

Ahead of the shows, we spoke to Curt of Flosstradamus about what’s going to go down. Scroll down for the dates, check out all info here, and grab your tickets here.

Australia has so much love for Flosstradamus. I remember the line for your 2013 show at Chinese Laundry was one of the longest queues ever! How does it feel to be coming back on your biggest headline tour yet – and sell out shows so quickly?

That Chinese Laundry line is legendary. It has made its way back to us from our fellow touring DJ’s! It feels great! That was one of the best nights in our whole career. We went hard, the crowd went hard. I was actually sick for about a week after. Its going to be awesome to see what happens this time around!

You also returned with Major Lazer in 2014 to play the Big Day Out. I guess that festival has always had a rock-based reputation, but artists like yourself are definitely shifting that – what are some of the ways you’ve noticed the growing acceptance of electronic music in Australia and across the globe?

Australia has had a strong festival culture years before the States did. We actually played V Festival in 2008. It was great to see a touring festival that had so many styles. It seems like electronic music is such a huge force at all the the festivals these days. It’s hard to top the energy from a crowd for an electronic act.

Josh also met his wife on a 2008 Australian tour. That tour was with Bang Gang, who represent a Golden Era in Australian dance music – and I think that Australia has definitely been going through another one of those phases with the likes of Flume, Ta-Ku etc. From an American perspective, what’s it been like to witness the growth of the Australian scene?

Just like in 2008, Australia had its own sound shaping the US sound and vice versa. Australia seems to take a gritty sound and polish it up and deliver it back in away that everyone wants to jump on. You seemed to mold a heavy electro sound into nu-disco, and with Flume a raw trap/hip-hop sound into a sound that has influenced a huge chunk of SoundCloud. It’s great to see. We support evolution of any sound. (Don’t fear the future)

Who has the best ad-lib in rap music: French Montana or Waka Flocka Flame?

Migos.

Guys like Kanye West & Vic Mensa are once again putting Chicago in the spotlight in 2015. Before that it was Chief Keef and the drill movement – what are some of the newer sounds emerging from the city that we should know about?

Chicago footwork and juke has always been underground, it’s always dope to see new artists coming up trying to push that sound. There are also people like Bop King Dlow pushing a new sound, dance, and positive movement. Also shout out to SD!

You guys also recently remixed Young Thug’s ‘Stoner’ on the Wake & Bake EP. Is Thugger naming his forthcoming album ‘Carter 6’ the best thing you’ve ever heard?

It’s pretty dope! Thugger has always put out that IDGAF attitude. I think he represents what it is to be an artist in 2015. (Why so serious?)

What do you think about the legalisation of powdered alcohol in the US?

I haven’t really seen it pop up around me. Just don’t snort that ish!

Having a residency in Las Vegas is another big accolade you’ve ticked off in 2015 already. How does the Vegas electronic scene differ from the rest of the US? Did the success of the shows exceed your expectations?

We have traveled all over the world, and there really is no place like Vegas. Vegas seems to be a more open minded crowd these days. (Shout out to the internet) Surrender has given us musical freedom and the crowd seems to love it. It’s been good vibes.

Can you please tell me what it’s like to hang out with RiFF RAFF IRL?

It’s pretty much like it is to watch him on the internet. He has a few quiet moments, tho. But he is the same dude on and off camera.

What’s on the cards for Flosstradamus for the rest of 2015? Any last words of advice for the Australians who are still yet to purchase a ticket to the HDYNATION tour?

We have an EP dropping on April 20th (4.20) called Soundclash. We will be playing Coachella for the third time, and come September we will have been doing this for 10 years! Stoked for the future, stoked for the current state of music! If you haven’t bought a ticket yet, buy one ASAP if there are any left. Wear some trainers to our shows that you don’t mind getting stepped on, keep a posi attitude and live a high def life!
