The way of the future…

KFC, one of the world’s leaders in the art of Kentucky fried chicken & essentially everything chicken, is on its way to develop the world’s first lab-made chicken nuggets. The fast-food chain is currently working with Moscow-based 3D Bioprinting Solutions in order to develop an environmentally-friendly & sustainable alternative.

To break it down, the nuggets will be made using an additive printing technique with chicken cells & plant material, with the hope of recreating the same “taste and texture” of real chicken. The creation of the nuggets has 100 times less of an impact on farmland as well as uses 25 times less greenhouse emissions. It also consists of no chemicals, but don’t worry, ingredients like bread and secret spices will be utilised to deliver the signature flavouring that KFC is iconic for.

The lab-made nuggs are set to launch in Moscow by in late 2020. Check out the Beyond Meat chicken nuggs they debuted way back in 2019 to get an idea of what the new nuggets will taste like.
