Despite the United States legalising marijuana at a rate quicker than people can set up munchie cafes, Mississippi rapper Rick Ross was busted in his Bentley yesterday – at 4:20pm (you can’t make this up) – in Georgia after a police officer “identified marijuana in his vehicle” at a traffic stop. It’s all good – he’s already out on bail. Joining our favourite list of celebrities who have been arrest for smoking the good stuff. Let’s recap a few of them below.

Paris Hilton

In August 2010, Paris and her then boyfriend, Cy Waits, were driving in Las Vegas when a motorcycle officer smelled marijuana smoke wafting from their Cadillac Escalade. Unfortunately, it was the cocaine they found in Paris’s purse that led to her arrest. Didn’t anyone ever tell you weed is a gateway drug, Paris? Two years later, the star was arrested for smoking weed at the World Cup in South Africa.

Chace Crawford 

Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford was booked for misdemeanour possession in June 2010. Poor Chace was in a car, yes, but he wasn’t driving. Plus, he had less than 2 ounces and his joint wasn’t even lit. He got off the hook by agreeing to probation and 24 hours of community service.

Mischa Barton

The O.C dreamgirl was pulled over in West Hollywood in 2007 after police saw her driving erratically. She was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license, possessing a controlled substance and possessing marijuana. The actress pleaded no contest to misdemeanour driving under the influence and driving without a license and was given three years probation. Marissa Cooper would have been proud.

Snoop Dogg

In 1998, Snoop Dogg was given a citation for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana following a concert in Los Angeles. In 2001, he was nabbed again when Cleveland police searched his tour bus and found 200 grams of the drug. He pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana the next year and was fined $250. May we never forget his awesome instagram’s of his breakfast buffet of green his hotel room in the Gold Coast — which he didn’t get busted for.

Lil’ Wayne

Lil Wayne is worth a mention. Hash has proved to be more trouble than it’s worth for Wayne — he was arrested for criminal weapons possession in 2007 after police searched his tour bus after smelling cannabis smoke.

Woody Harrelson

There’s plenty of photos of Woody Harrelson openly smoking weed, but it was the day he tried his hand at farming that got him in trouble. Woody was arrested in Kentucky in 1996 for ceremonially planting hemp seeds as part of a crusade to legalise marijuana and help struggling farmers cultivate new crops. Though Kentucky doesn’t distinguish between hemp and cannabis, the charges were later dropped.

Lil’ Kim

The ‘No Matter What They Say’ singer was arrested in 1996 for marijuana possession after police raided the New Jersey home of the late rapper Notorious B.I.G. and found weapons and pot.
