Party & Bullshit

After delivering a rampaging set at Splendour In The Grass on Sunday, Stormzy backed it up with a sold out show at The Enmore Theatre.

Having last visited Australia as part of OutsideIn Festival in 2015, Stormzy’s profile has since exploded on a global scale, egged on by the skyrocketing UK grime scene. Touring in support of his commendable album Gang Signs & Prayer, Stormzy headed to the Inner-West for the first of two headline shows in Sydney.

Landing the support slot was Manu Crooks, performing after the recent release of his single ‘Ridin’ and a consistent string of rap bangers which have earned him international acclaim from Zane Lowe to Ebro Darden. It seems like only a matter of time before Manu Crooks is headlining venues of this size himself, and after getting the floor jumping with his airhorn and 808-heavy set, it was time for Stormzy’s arrival.

His set featured the assertive hits from Gang Signs & Prayer like ‘Shut Up’ and ‘Big For Your Boots,’ while things took a more pop-friendly turn with his official remix of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You.’ Stormzy also performed ‘Wicked Skengman’ due to popular demand, making for a well-rounded set that was defined by his charismatic stage presence and infectious slang. If you’re headed along to Sydney tonight, you’re in for a treat:
