Justin Bieber brought his Purpose tour to Australia earlier this year, which is a relief for local Beliebers given that he’s just canned the rest of the dates due to ‘unforseen circumstances.’

Bieber has scrapped the remainder of the Purpose tour – which had him slated to perform in America, Japan and Philippines – with the reason being that the popstar is reportedly looking to start his own Church. A statement from Bieber’s tour representative says that “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the Purpose World Tour concerts… He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over last 18 months… after careful consideration he has decided he will not be performing any further dates.”

While the statement doesn’t point to any specifics about the cancellation, Nine entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins has quoted yet another mysterious ‘inside source’ who points to Bieber’s relationship with God. “I am led to believe that the real reason he’s come off the road is because he wants to reconnect with his faith and maybe even planning to start his own Church,” he sad on Today Extra.

“Whether he’s looking at teaming up with them [Hillsong]… or starting hs own church, we’re not quite sure… That’s the word from an inside source,” he continued. Bieber made a surprise visit to Australia to attend a Hlllsong conference earlier this month, so it seems like his connection to Hillsong is still strong – and given his cult-like fanbase, starting up a Church seems like a cinch for the charismatic Canadian.

If the Church of the Beliebers does come into fruition, we’re hoping that we can sing ‘Beauty & A Beat’ and ‘Love Yourself’ as hymns, and that we get a guest sermon from Usher. Fingers crossed:
