From Cronulla to to the other side of the planet, Letters to Lions are making some serious noise.

It’s been a huge year for indie four-piece Letters to Lions – the lads have just released their second EP Grays Point, toured extensively over Australia and Canada, and are about to play two co-headlined shows at Sydney’s Chippendale Hotel.

The guys have just returned from a five week tour of Canada, where singer Jackson says they covered some serious territory. “It was mint, really cool! We flew into Toronto and played three shows there. Then flew to Winnipeg and played there, then drove all the way to Vancouver, playing shows along the way,” he says. By the way, that’s a few thousand kilometres.

Having recorded at Parliament Studios with Lachie Mitchell, Grays Point represents a bit of a departure as they push their sound into bigger spaces. “The EP’s very different to the last one. There’s a lot more production” he says – which is to be expected, as the band looks to expand on the huge number of online streams they’re attracting.

A new video is also on the way for EP standout ‘Skeleton’ which follows a day in the life one of their mates (who may or may not be real) on an adventure, and promises to be on of the kookiest vids of the year. Mysterious, right?

Letters to Lions lives shows have a reputation as being notoriously party, and the boys are clearly keen to play bigger rooms and avoid resting on their laurels, as “our last show in Newtown was the Leadbelly and that sold out so we’re trying for bigger and better.”

Co-headlining their national tour is former member of The Cairo’s, Alistar Richardson (aka Zefereli), who the guys are pumped to be playing with. “We first met three years ago at Sounds of the Suburbs and they were only playing as a two-piece then so it will be cool to seem them play as a full band,” he says. Also jumping onboard for the shows this weekend are Sydney locals The Hideaways, so it should be a huge couple of days for the bands and punters alike!
