A new documentary about the rock and roll icon titled David Bowie: The Last Five Years is due out in 2018.
We all know 2016 was a shit year in terms of celebrity deaths, with the world sadly losing some our favourite music and film idols including Prince, Carrie Fisher, Muhammad Ali and Alan Rickman, but none captured our hearts and the headlines quite like the passing of Bowie did. Let’s face it, losing the man who had given us hits like ‘Starman,’ ‘Heroes,’ ‘Rebel Rebel,’ and so many more was like losing a family member for a lot of us.
Now, HBO have released a teaser for a new documentary directed by Francis Whately that covers Bowie’s career, predominantly focussing on the last five years of his life including his last albums Blackstar and The Next Day as well as his musical Lazarus which he began during a creative spree after becoming aware of his cancer diagnosis.
Arguably going through one of the most prolific patches of his career when he died, the trailer ends with an inspiring quote from Bowie himself on his approach to creativity: “Always go a bit further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in and when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about at the right place to do something exciting.”
