Who’d of thought Bradley Cooper would have a nice set of pipes on him? Apparently he did. The actor has co-written, directed and co-starred in his latest film that is a remake of a 1937 film that sees the actor play a fading rock star (albeit a country/acoustic one) who discovers a talented singer who lacks belief in herself (Gaga) in a dingy bar.
Sound like a familiar story? That’s because it is. Since the 1937 original, the film has been remade in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. That’s not to say we don’t think Cooper and Gaga can bring something fresh to the table here, after all, a great story is timeless and there’s nothing like a bit of a rock and roll/drama mashup.

The cast is pretty stacked too, with comedy legends Dave Chappelle, Dice Clay and Sam Elliot (he’s the cowboy The Dude talks to in The Big Lebowski) all joining the lineup. Not to mention a soundtrack that features tunes written by Cooper and Gaga, Mark Ronson, Lukas Nelson and Jason Isbell.
No word on when A Star Is Born will be hitting Australian cinemas as of yet, though the film will be out in the states this October.
