Performing at Tasmania’s Museum of Old and New Art, Josh Homme and co delivered a dark and stormy version of the track.
Sounding like a murder ballad from some sort of post apocalyptic wasteland, Queens Of The Stone Age’s version of their Villains lead single ‘The Way You Used To Do,’ that they performed earlier this month at a charity event in Tasmania was a special treat for audiences. And now we can all bask in it’s noirish glory.
Switching out drums and heavy guitars for warbling synth sandscapes and gritty percussion, singer Josh Homme’s vocals took centre stage as gave a performance with levels of croon that perhaps event surprised the big man himself. Keeping with the black and white aesthetic that has accompanied nearly all of the Villains promo material also gave the clip, which was uploaded to the bands Facebook this morning, a dark, yet classy feel.
The concert raised over $10K for the Royal Hobart Hospital Pediatrics Ward, which was matched by a $10K donation from Homme’s Sweet Stuff Foundation. The group visited the hospital the next day to hand over the cheque in person.
