Sydney’s Aegean Sun have got you covered on all bases with their funky indie jam ‘Ultraviolet.’

Peanut butter and chocolate, vegemite and avocado, rockmelon and prosciutto, these tasty treats may never have been born if it wasn’t for our love of mixing it up, and combining two trusted flavours. Aegean Sun have adopted the same ethos for their latest track ‘Ultraviolet,’ which melds dreamy psychedelia with groovy disco in a way that is so succulent, you’ll be eating it up by the bucketful.

But enough of the food metaphors, the six minute track begins life as a slowed down ballad before evolving in to a dancey jam and back again, with the group clearly not short on interesting ideas and avenues to follow. “Ultraviolet explores song structure and has a much larger dynamic and tonal range. Compared to ‘Feel Real’ it’s definitely more of a headphone listen,” singer, guitarist Tim Kesby says.

The duelling guitars in either ear give the tune an urgency that really pushes it forward and will have your shaking from side to side in your seat. This combatant/intertwining concept is something the group explores vocally too. “Jack [Pash] and I switch vocals halfway through the song. The half where I sing, for me, isn’t particularly literal but explores the themes of uncertainty and expectations while ultimately ending in a feeling of self-acceptance,” Tim says.

‘Ultraviolet’ is the follow up single to 2017’s ‘Feel Real,’ both of which are taken from a forthcoming EP that is coming soon. Stay tuned.
