Last night saw Amy Shark cement her status as one of Australia’s biggest talents.

With her debut No.1 album Love Monster earning her victories in the Album Of The Year, Best Female Artist, and Best Pop Release categories, it’s fair to say that 2018 has been the year of the Shark. The pop talent who had largely been ignored by the industry until the viral success of her 2016 single ‘Adore’, could barely contain herself as she accepted the Album Of The Year award. “I will cherish this forever,” Shark said.

As we reported yesterday, she has just announced two of her biggest shows to date; one at The Hordern Pavillion in Sydney and another at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne. It’s safe to say the added hype from her ARIA haul will see tickets for these shows disappear pretty quickly, with her team clearly conscious of the power of ARIA’s buzz in pushing record sales and selling tickets.

Having past away in July last year, indigenous singer Gurrumul posthumously took out the Best Male Artist award and Best Independent Release for his album Djarimirri (Child of the Rainbow), with his daughter accepting it on his behalf. 5 Seconds Of Summer predictably took out the bulk of fan-voted awards including Apple Music Song Of The Year and Best Australian Live Act, whilst Kasey Chambers took out Best Country Album and was also inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame by Paul Kelly.
