Over the holiday period, 20-year-old Beyond The Valley punter Callum Edwards tragically passed away.

Edwards was flown from the Victorian festival to hospital on December 29 in critical condition, and died three days later. And while the cause of death is yet to be determined, there were multiple reports that he died from a suspected drug overdose, which has once again fuelled nationwide debates around pill testing and drug use at music festivals.

However, in the midst of the media kerfuffle, new reports surfacing in the Herald Sun have suggested that something else entirely may have contributed to Edwards’ death. According to the publication, Edwards’ brother says that “tiger snake venom was found in his system,” with his mother adding that “we definitely know there was a reptile involved.”

Police are preparing a report for the coroner, so there’s no way to say with certainty as to what caused Edwards’ death, and what role this tiger snake bite played. Stay tuned for more details.
