With #MuteRKelly making waves on social media, Spotify have responded with a new feature on their app.
As our digital music libraries slowly become more responsive and personalised, stream app Spotify has taken another step to filtering out artists we dislike with their new “Don’t play this artist feature”. Whether you don’t want to hear from an artist because of shitty things they’ve done, or their music rubs you the wrong way, Spotify now gives you the power to avoid them completely.
The feature doesn’t wipe the artist completely off your Spotify – they are still searchable and the “Don’t play” can be reversed – it does mean that the artist won’t be played in saved or suggested playlists. It’s the feature that can save you the hassle of listening to a trash song/human with the flick of a button.
