Hell of a tune!

Do the time warp with Melbourne’s DIET.

Do you remember the heydays of The Cure, The Smiths, and Echo & The Bunnymen? Us neither, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t spent way too much time absorbing their music and obsessing over their videos. And it seems the same can be said for rapidly rising indie-rockers DIET, with their new video something of a throwback to the heart-on-sleeve days of Britpop, and their new tune equally as intoxicating.

‘What To Do’ is their first new music since their 2018 debut EP Sundown, with the group once again showcasing their ability to deliver heartstrung and hook-laden tunes that make us want to dance and cry (a little) at the same time. The clip, which also features one of the lads’ grandmas having a shred on guitar, sees the group give an energetic performance that captures the raw spirit of the song.

“We were really excited to make a more aesthetic-driven music video for ‘What To Do’, because in the past we have focused heavily on building a narrative or storyline for our film clips,” bass player and vocalist Carlos Tinsley says. “Whilst it’s not always the case, storylines in music videos can sometimes take away from the music or the real message of the song. That’s why we went for an ’80s nostalgic aesthetic to match our sound best.”
