Worldly-psych seven-piece Kimono Drag Queens have revealed a first glimpse into their forthcoming (and long awaited) debut LP Songs of Worship. Cue ‘Hunters’, their tantalisingly dark single with occultist video to match.

The clip features a plethora of wild Australian creatures and landscapes, coupled with rune rattling motifs. It goes to show that the Kimono Drag Queens crew, alongside director/producer Claire Salter and videographer/editor Liam French can pull off some grand, ominous ideas.

Packed with a full day’s food and water, I met with KDQ & Co for a true blue dawn-till-dusk behind the scenes experience. Set in an untamed Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, we sought locations and dotted members along the cliffs, caves and creeks of Durramurragal land.

As day turned into night, being on this set was a stragglers dream. The team rejoiced in beating the rain, walking through still waters and perfect lighting throughout day. To welcome the night, the Drag Queens danced around a witchy ring of fire, masking themselves with horse bones, amidst a full moon rising. So Sannyasin, so ‘Danse Macabre’, so sick.
