Following the release of his single ‘100-60’ featuring JSPA in May, Carter has been back in the studio and on set filming a two-part video release. Today we’re excited to share with you the premiere for part two: ‘Cutting Ties’.

Shared roughly a month a part, the clips are shot in two very different settings as the tracks explore two stages of the same narrative. Where ‘Understand It’ delves into self-awareness as well as an awareness of the people and energies that Carter found himself surrounded by at the time of writing, ‘Cutting Ties’ speaks to, well, cutting ties. In removing himself from that negativity, Carter references a tough but necessary transition. “These two songs represent a part of that story where I had to change my surroundings and use the noise as motivation.”

From a clean cut, polished and squad heavy aesthetic to the juxtaposing and at times trippy visuals on show in ‘Cutting Ties’, when viewed in succession the videos illustrate Carter’s personal growth and subsequent liberation as an artist. While apparently isolated, Carter is unflappable as he casually sings his piece while a pair of dirt bikes whizz by. Unfazed by the distraction, this speaks to Carter’s ability to endure social and creative pressures while becoming more comfortable with leading a path that is true to him. Both out via Day Ones Records, check out the video for ‘Understand It’ and the premiere for ‘Cutting Ties’ below:
