There is nothing chill about the latest from COLD / HEAT.

Sydney’s COLD / HEAT have today hit us visuals for their punk/electronica single ‘ULP & Me’, which is the first taste from their sophomore EP You In The Verse – and it’s every bit as eerie as you’d expect. The clip, which was directed by Throat Pasta, includes a paper mache protagonist, grainy footage shot in a basement, and a delightfully off-putting performance from the trio.

Lyrically the song has both literal and metaphorical connotations, referring to singer John Hynd’s experience of getting poisoned by petrol fumes from a leaky exhaust and use of recreational drugs. Backed by industrial beats and Birthday Party-esque guitars, Hynd’s vocals nicely match the creepiness of the visuals, exhibiting his ability to venomously spew post-punk poetry onto anyone within earshot.
