Armed with a bulletproof voice, the 19 year old Filipino-Australian r&b artist returns after her major label debut last month. Set over heavier production this time around, ‘180’ gets into the ups and downs of a relationship. Packaged as neatly as possible, it’s about putting in effort and riding out those rougher patches, a message carried effortlessly by Andallo’s undeniable voice. As seen with her previous single, it’s those crisp vocals that take centre stage, soaring high with an intoxicating and utterly convincing hook. Rising r&b vocals are grounded by Lil Spacely’s complementary verse, an artist who himself has also clearly been putting in studio time having recently dropped ‘Murdahh’ featuring Big Skeez and Rico Pacino.
Speaking on the collaboration, Lara Andallo said, “I knew straight up I wanted a rapper on it. I showed some friends the first demo, and they were like Lil Spacely would sound dope on this. My A&R reached out to his team, and he loved the track, so we finished it at the studio together.” Sometimes these things just work themselves out, hey?
