The label will focus on contemporary classical artists.
Most people fall into one of two categories; the diehard Radiohead fans who love anything and everything they do, and those who despise the dreary five-piece from Oxfordshire. If you fall into the former group you will most likely be aware that guitarist Jonny Greenwood has been composing film scores for a number of years, writing music for movies such as; There Will Be Blood, Inherent Vice, The Master, The Phantom Thread and many more.
Seemingly not busy enough, he’s just announced that he has started a new label Octatonic Records. Something that offers him an “excuse” to record some of the classical musicians he’s worked with over the years, along with some of his own compositions.

In a statement Greenwood said, “I’ve been documenting the musicians I’ve worked with and encountered in the contemporary classical world,” said Greenwood of the project. “Since doing my first soundtrack, I’ve become friends with lots of these remarkable musicians, as well as familiar with the music they play. It’s a whole world out there.”
The labels first two releases are available for pre-order now and feature Bach’s Partita No.2 in D Minor, Michael Gordon’s ‘Industry’, and ‘Three Miniatures From Water’.
