The enigmatic group’s new album Ghosteen is streaming on YouTube now.

“Part one comprises of eight songs.. Part two consists of two long songs, linked by a spoken word piece… The songs on the first album are the children… The songs on the second album are their parents.” – So begins the visuals for Nick Cave and The Bad Seed’s 17th album, Ghosteen. Shared on their Facebook this morning, the film clip (if you can call it that) simply offers the lyrics to the songs, which we suspect is to allow you to be drawn in by the music – and it certainly does so.

Swirling synths, dissonant pianos, the largely beatless record builds a dark and stormy, but at times near gospel, atmosphere around Cave’s vocals. Taking centre stage, as per usual, his lyrics examine mythology, existence, and experience, seemingly extending on the themes of 2016’s Skeleton Tree. But hey, there really isn’t any point in us trying to describe it – it’s Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – just listen to it below:
