Fans of Alex Cameron rejoice! We’ve just got the news that our favourite pop oddball Alex Cameron will be touching down for a whirlwind Aus/NZ tour hitting Sydney, Brisbane, Wellington and Auckland next year for a dine-and-dash style four headline shows in a week (he’s also playing Farmer & The Owl in Feb and Brunswick Music Fesetival in March).
It’ll be the first opportunity for Aussie audiences to catch Cameron play the tracks from his Miami Memory record from September. According to Cameron the record, which is dedicated to his girlfriend is unlike Jumping The Shark (2016) and Forced Witness (2017), with the singer moving away from the tongue in cheek songwriting he became known for.
“When you listen to these songs, and you’re waiting for the twist, or the joke, or any kind of discomfort, I can assure you none of those things were there when I wrote them,” he says. “Miami Memory is the story of a couple balancing sex with contemporary family values… It’s my gift to my girlfriend, a symbol to hoist on the totem of love.”
Tickets for the shows are available next Friday 13th right here. Peep the dates below, along with a live clip for ‘Miami Memory’ where he really belts home the “eating your ass like and oyster” line:
