If you thought that being stranded on an island with no proper shelter, food or water sounds horrible, Ja Rule has just released a track that makes FYRE Festival seem like the experience of a lifetime. ‘Fyre’ was released on Ja’s Insta over the weekend, and is something of an explainer for the festival he and all-round douche Billy McFarland “hosted” back in 2017.
On the track, Ja dishes out more of the “it wasn’t me” denialism that we saw when the Netflix documentary about the festival was released. You don’t have to be a rap aficionado to recognise the track pretty weak, and it even incorporates an Inspector Gadget sample that no one asked for. It seems he cares less about rhyming than he did about patrons of the festival, which he says cost him $100 million in lawsuits and also saw Mcfarland locked up for various financial wrongdoings.
