With the wider music Australian community taking to social media to raise awareness about the fires, encourage donations and organise fundraisers, US rapper Lizzo released a video asking FOMO attendees to chuck in a little bit of change when the festival hits Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland over the coming weeks.
Here, she’s implored punters to chuck in an extra dollar for every drink they purchase while at the festival. Though it doesn’t sound like much, this method raised an additional $8K at FOMO Brisbane and we all know that every drop counts when it comes to helping battle these unprecedented conditions.
Lizzo herself, along with other FOMO performers and the festival itself, has committed to contributing some of her own money to the cause as well. Funds raised will be going to:
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services
SA Country Fire Service
NSW Rural Fire Service
CFA (Country Fire Authority).
