Kevin Parker has returned with new music ahead of the February 14th release of The Slow Rush.
“Even though that was a time I hated from day one/eventually terribly memories turn into great ones” sings Kevin Parker AKA Tame Impala in the latest track, and fourth single, from his forthcoming fourth LP The Slow Rush. Much like previous single ‘Posthumous Forgiveness’, his lyrics are examining his “younger days”, whilst his dreamy vocals and melodies entrance us.
There’s something bewitching about the way the swung beat links with that typically front-of-mix bass line, it seems to draw us whilst never letting us get to close, leaving us in some sort of hypnotic limbo. It’s reminiscent of the way ‘Let It Happen’ came close but veered away from being pure pop, making sure the track maintains that not-so-polished charm.
It’s certainly got us excited for the record. So far all we know about it (other than the release date) is that parker has collaborated with surrealist photographer Neil Krug for the artwork. We’re told it “features a symbol of humanity all but swallowed whole by the surrounding environment, as though in the blink of an eye.” Trippy, right?
