With his first UFC fight since 2018 on Saturday against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone creeping up, Irish former dual weight division titleholder Conor McGregor has used an interview on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show to state his intentions for a Mayweather rematch. “I’d like to rematch Floyd,” he said, “I think we should rematch Floyd. I mean, he’s flirting with it…he can go and pick someone else, [but] it’s not gonna be the same.” He later added “It was a great, great experience, and, you know, I look forward to doing it again. It’s going to happen again.”
His now infamous 10th round defeat by knockout from Mayweather back in 2017 was one of the biggest pay-per-view events of all time, generating a reported 4.3 million buys, grossing over $600 million US. The pay-per-views were only eclipsed by Mayweather’s Pacquiao fight which attracted 4.6 million buys.

According to ESPN, Dana White has said he’ll start talking to Mayweather promoter Al Haymon, maybe this summer, and then possibly have something for Mayweather in the fall, though it has not been clarified whether this will be a UFC or boxing event. Check out the full ESPN interview below (the juicey Mayweather stuff starts about 40 mins in) and stay tuned.
