Uncovered by mining company Lucura in Botswana, the 1,758 carat “rough” diamond will be broken down and turned into jewellery as they continue to push into the jewellery market. The diamond is so big it even has a nickname; ‘Sewelo’, which means “rare find” in Tswana, a language spoken in Botswana.
The price of the rock has not been revealed, though in 2015 Lucura found the then second-largest diamond at 1,109-carat, which sold for US$53 million. That’s a lot of bags (handbags)…
