Looks like UFC champ Alex Volkanovski isn’t done with Max Holloway, wanting to beat him for a second time to prove he’s the greatest featherweight champ ever.
Talking to TMZ, the champ made himself clear. “I want that fight, cause there’s no clear #1 contenders, and I just think that he’s a great champion. And, for me, the biggest fight in my career right now to solidify myself as the best featherweight of all-time, and one of the greatest of all-time.”
Volkanovksi beat Holloway back in December in a round five split decision, but he wants to leave no doubts out there for anyone.
“I go and take out Max twice in [his] prime, ya know, people are gonna give me the respect I deserve.”
Speaking on when the rematch would happen, Volkanovski didn’t mince words.
“I don’t want to sit on the sidelines too long, and I wanna defend my belt in Australia. That Perth card is June 6. We’re gonna make it happen, I reckon.” I mean, it’s optimistic for sure, but whether or not fights will still be happening by then remains to be seen. Here’s hoping we get the rematch we’ve been craving…
