Swoon, baby. Swoon.

Looking for your new favourite lockdown release? Something that feels like lying in a bed of daisies gazing into your lover’s eyes? Something that you can also get up and shake your tailfeather to? Well, Sydney singer-songwriter Amber Rose has got you covered with today’s release of her debut EP, Platonic Love.

From the tracks we’ve heard previously, ‘Don’t Hold Me Back’, ‘I’m Working On It’ and ‘Mother Earth’ combined with two previously unreleased songs ‘Lost’ and ‘Stay A While’ we get the sense that we’re listening to a budding and confident songwriter capable of conjuring up emotions that should be beyond the reach of many of her peers. There’s an undoubted Don’t Let The Kids Win-era Julia Jacklin flavour to the release – a comparison that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

“The name ‘Platonic Love’ came about because I was focused on straying from romanticism and looking at love from a different perspective such as with friends or even myself,” Rose says of the release. “Half of the EP was recorded along with my first single, so production-wise, it is a bit different from the later tracks, but I personally find that it makes it interesting as you can see the growth in my music. I wanted to create songs with a deep meaning that you could also have a dance to if you weren’t in the mood to be serious in an attempt to connect with a broader audience.”
