Juventus star and football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first football player to become a billionaire, making him the third athlete to reach the coveted status after pro-golfer Tiger Woods in 2009 and boxer Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
According to Forbes, the Portugal star has made £513 million ($930 million AUD) during his 17-year-football career, but he’s also got huge amounts of cash coming in from his various endorsements, his fashion and lifestyle brand CR7, his hotel chain CR7 and a CR7 museum. Of course Lionel Messi is closing in on him however, making a decent £477 million ($865 million AUD) throughout his career.
Thanks to his large earnings, Ronaldo is up there with some of the richest on the planet, coming in fourth on Forbes’ Highest-Paid Celebrities for 2020 and second for their Highest Paid Athletes for 2020. We doubt this news is gonna affect his efforts or standards on the pitch however, if anything it’ll serve as motivation for him to continue to dominate the league like he has for the last 17 years.
For now, check out eight minutes of Cristiano Ronaldo proving why he’s one of football’s greatest talents and it’s first billionaire.
