Oakley are digging deep and uniting the global community through their love of sport.

Hitting us with big news on two fronts today, Oakley have not only dropped their epic Meguru Yamaguchi collab, Kokoro Collection, but they’ve also announced they’ll be donating $200K to support the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization. Looking to unify athletes of all abilities around the world and create a global community, Oakley’s response to the pandemic is nothing short of impressive.

The Kokoro Collection is arguably their most creative yet, with the Japanese artist teaming up with Oakley engineers to re-create Meguru’s specialised spin technique utilizing a custom-made machine. That means that every pair is an individualised one-off piece of art in itself and each comes equipped with Oakley’s leading Prizm Lens Technology.

“I was very excited when Oakley reached out to collaborate, as I’ve been a fan of the brand since my high school days,” said Meguru. “When I connected with the athletes as part of the discovery phase, I was moved by their united passion for sport. Designing a collection that was emblematic of this shared passion was core to my process and I’m thrilled with the results.”

“Kokoro”, in Japanese, means heart; mind; spirit, which fittingly sums up what is needed in the world right now as we stare down this pandemic. “I’m grateful to Oakley for this generous and creative contribution to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund,” said Elizabeth Cousens, President and CEO of the UN Foundation. “The Kokoro Collection promotes the spirit of global solidarity that will be necessary to defeat this virus. We are truly at our strongest when we work together, as one team.”
