Two legends take on a classic…

After years of hinting and teasing a potential collaboration, Will Smith and Kevin Hart have signed on to star together in the remake of John Hughes’ 1987 comedy Planes, Trains & Automobiles. The film, which originally starred Steve Martin and John Candy, told the story of Neal and Del, a mismatched couple who share a three-day journey as they attempt to make their way home to Chicago, in time for Thanksgiving.

Adding to the excitement of the news, Brooklyn Nine-Nine writer Aeysha Carr has signed on to write the script, with her past writing credits including Everybody Hates Chris, My Wife and Kids and The Carmichael Show. The film will also be produced by Smith’s and Hart’s respective companies Westbrook Studios and Hartbeat Productions.

It appears a director still hasn’t signed onto the project, which is more than okay since it’ll probably be a long while before the project begins production. But we’re definitely sold with this casting, with Philadelphia OGs Smith and Hart already having a mad rapport and comedic chemistry. Check the trailer for the original 1987 film below and get keen!
