Picture this. You’ve got the day off work, and you’re just taking it easy at home with a good Netflix show and glass of wine. Seems pretty standard right? You wouldn’t expect a day like that to be very eventful. Well, that’s because you don’t live near a Lindt chocolate factory. More specifically, you don’t live near a Lindt chocolate factory with a ventilation problem, unlike the people of Olten, Switzerland, who were shocked and delighted to to discover particles of cocoa power AKA chocolate snow covering their town.
Pictures taken in the town show a thin layer of chocolate covering almost every surface possible, with Lindt & Spruengli confirming that there was indeed a minor defect of the cooling ventilation system of the factory, in the “cocoa nibs” area of the to be exact. Luckily, the malfunction seems to be perfectly safe, and the chocolate snow raining down isn’t at all toxic. The roasted nibs and apparent ammunition for the chocolate snow actually serve as the basis for Lindt’s chocolate products, so no doubt at least one Olten resident saved some of the chocolate snow for when they start up their own chocolate empire.
Lindt has offered to pay for cleaning in the town if required, but hilariously, no one has taken them up on their offer. Check out some images from the whole chocolate ordeal below to get an idea of the benefits of living near a Lindt factory.
A glitch at a Lindt chocolate factory in Switzerland meant that it started snow…..chocolate!! 😋🍫
