Got us vibing hard…

Digging into his soul bag and coming out with intricate, multi-layered goodness, Perth-based creative juggernaut Ta-ku has dropped ‘Cruel’, his first official single in two years. Joining together with Sydney electro wizard Panama, the musical maestro oozes some effortlessly warm vocals drenched in the purest of spirits. Starting with just Ta-ku and a piano, the track builds ever-so subtly, with finely tuned layers working in perfect harmony to create a total out-of-body experience. It’s essentially everything we love from both Ta-ku and Panama all in one track, with inescapable magnetism coming through every kick, snare, chord, vocal (I could go on forever) they paints on their sonic canvas.

Speaking about the theme of cruelty and heartbreak, Ta-ku confesses “‘Cruel’ is a direct song about relationships, describing an antagonist who tends to make up their own rules & makes the other feel like they are suffering. Although feeling (overly) sensitive at times, the song describes being on the receiving end of when a person turns on you in the heat of a moment or during an argument.”

Picture this: if you were watching the sunrise in the morning with a bunch of your best mates, holding each other close to band together against the undeniable cold, you’d want ‘Cruel’ playing. No ifs, no buts. The tune is literally euphoria in a song, and it’s undeniably brilliant. Definitely check it out.
