Showing that he’s not at all intending on slowing down in 2020, Ohio singer/ rapper Machine Gun Kelly has come through with an out-of-this-world music video for his song ‘My Ex’s Best Friend’ featuring Florida’s blackbear.
The tune opens with a steady guitar strum that throws it back to the American indie-rock bands of the 2000s (which get nowhere near enough credit for how bloody sick they were), with MGK singing the words “You know my ex, so that makes it all feel complicated, yeah (It all seems complicated)/ I read those texts that you sent to yours, but I’ll never say it, yeah (I’ll never say it)”. In true MGK fashion, while he’s singing all of this he’s sitting on top of an upside-down car as it drags along the California desert. Would you expect anything less?
The video definitely captures the destruction and wreckage inherent to a breakup, but real one blackbear shows up in proper homie style to tow MGK and his less-than-alive car away. With that gorgeous Los Angeles sky showing off its various blues, purples, yellows and pretty much every colour in the rainbow, the vid does true justice to the heartbreak-heavy smash.
MGK’s fifth studio album Tickets To My Downfall has been pushed back to September 25, fingers crossed it gets to come out. Check the video for ‘My Ex’s Best Friend’ below.
