Sean’s running the game right now…

After keeping fans waiting for over three years, Big Sean has more than lived up to all the hype and expectations placed upon him with his latest album Detroit 2. Boasting a stacked 21 songs with features from artists like Travis Scott, Jhene Aiko, Nipsey Hussle, Dave Chapelle and so many more, the record sees the Detroit rapper at the strongest he’s ever been, lyrically and musically.

And it’s safe to say the world agrees as well, the album selling a total of 103,000 equivalent units in its first week, allowing Sean to overtake Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon and Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die for No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The first week total was significantly helped by the 71,000 streaming equivalents, along with 30,000 physical sales as well. Looks like Sean’s fans really turned up for him.

It’s not hard to see why the album is resonating so strongly, Sean’s appreciation for his hometown shining through every bar, hook and melody as he gets the most vulnerable he’s ever been on a record. With its intricate wordplay and crazy-focused production, Sean truly cleanses himself from all of the mixed reviews of 2017’s I Decided, all the while teaching a proper masterclass in how to do a sequel album right.
