Looks very promising…

Focus Features have released the first trailer for its new comedy Half Brothers, and upon first glance we can already tell this is a film with a whole lot of heart.

The film follows a man named Renato (played by Luis Gerardo Méndez), who’s a successful Mexican aviation executive who discovers he has an American half brother (played by Connor Del Rio), who’s a bit of a bogan. However, the two are united by their father’s dying wish for them to become close and take the path he took as an immigrant from Mexico to the U.S. together.

The trailer sees the director Luke Greenfield put a new spin on that classic “odd couple on a road trip” scenario, adding an extra human element as the two brothers set out to fulfil their father’s dying wish. Although at times it’s got some hilarious laughs and comedic moments (including the most cooked goat stealing scene at 1:18), make no mistake, this is a heartfelt story about two brothers getting to know one another. And the two have some amazing chemistry, you really get the feel that although they’re super different and come from two different worlds, the love is there, and it radiates off the screen. No doubt it’ll be a properly wholesome experience when the film drops in theatres on December 4 (although the release date will probably change knowing 2020).
