Ty Dolla Sign has come through hard with his latest song ‘Spicy’ featuring Post Malone, and of course, it totally lives up to its name.
Throwing it back to the Ty Dolla Sign of old, the tune perfectly melds his R&B and rap sensibilities, with the hip hop heavy production juxtaposed perfectly with those haunting synth patterns and soothing guitar line. Post’s verse is of course totally killer as well, alternating between heavy rapping and singing in his classic, totally unique way.
Speaking on the collab, Ty opened up to interview extraordinaire Zane Lowe on the creative process, saying “I did my part on it. I was just like, ‘Yo, we need Post on this one. This is the one.’ So, I called him and he took a f-king hell of a long time to send it back,” citing the long wait to Post’s dedication to “perfection.”
The song is taken from the hilariously titled Featuring Ty Dolla Sign (probably the only time where trolling yourself actually makes for a kick ass album title). The new project is absolutely stacked with features, with artists like Kanye West, Anderson .Paak, Kehlani, Kid Cudi and numerous more making appearances. It’s set to drop October 23 via Atlantic Records, and we literally can’t wait. Check out ‘Spicy’ below (insert chilli emoji).
