British rock band Arctic Monkeys has stayed pretty quiet since 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, the group taking some well-deserved down time to catch up on normal living (and hopefully work on new music). Now, they’ve returned to the spotlight for a super important cause, releasing a live album to raise funds for War Child UK, a non profit that protects and supports children affected by war.
The new album is taken from the four-piece’s performance at the Royal Albert Hall in 2018, featuring 20-tracks across their whole discography. The trailer for the live album features a a mood-bending synth juxtaposed with cheers from a crowd and shots of a red moon, all before they launch into Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino smash ‘Four Out Of Five’, with various shots from their Royal Albert Hall performance sprinkled throughout.
The band released a full statement to coincide with the announcement, writing “On June 7, 2018 we played a very special show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. All the proceeds from that memorable night were donated to War Child UK in support of the vital work they do protecting, educating and rehabilitating children who have experienced the trauma of conflict and the horror of war. The situation that was bad in 2018 is now desperate and those children and their families need our help more than ever.
“To enable War Child UK to reduce their funding deficit and continue their valuable work, we are happy to be able to release a live album, recorded that evening at The Royal Albert Hall. All proceeds will go direct to the charity. We thank all our fans in advance for their support of this release and in turn for their support of War Child UK.”
