Missed us? Who are we kidding of course you did! Even though these bad boys are weekly now, we’re always frothing the chance to write about our local artists. It’s a highlight of the week, and with the excess of talent in the local scene right now, it’s a bloody good time to be a music lover. Thus, in the spirit of keeping it all the way 100, we’re back with another five tracks by local acts that are straight up killing it in the local scene, forging out a path of their own that’s completely uncompromising, unique and most of all, unabashedly badass.

RISSA – ‘Give It Up’
RISSA continues to twirl and flourish ever so gracefully on her quest to world domination, her art imbued with the magnetic aura that’s made so many fall head over heels for her spiritual incandescence. She revels in bluesy magic of the finest variety on ‘Give It Up,’ delivering a sultry R&B jam that holds you ever so softly, ever so sweetly. Singing atop a Sumatra produced beat that features some otherworldly keys and ornamentation, the songstress makes you feel like you’re the only one in the world with sublime ease, those mesmerising vocals cradling you in a silky embrace that’s totally healing and cathartic. And of course, it features some of the most gorgeous horns possible, colliding and swirling to craft a world of sound that’ll trap you in its lush embrace, taking your hand into the next realm. A realm filled with heart, soul and promise.
Young Franco – ‘Fallin Apart’ ft. Denzel Curry & Pell
No cap, but we’ve never seen someone snap as hard as Franco did on ‘Fallin Apart’, the tune bridging his signature brand of house with the hip hop mastery he’s been displaying as of late. And bloody hell, copping a Denzel Curry feature along with Pell deserves praise all in its own. Starting with some spicey AF chords that sound like they belong in a Fast And The Furious movie, the tune sets the most playful of moods with the help of bountiful electronic ornamentation. The stage couldn’t be better set for the OG Denzel Curry to enter with those hard hitting bars, lighting us up so hard all you can do is just watch as the master shows us how its done. Once the synths come in however, Franco levels TF up in his signature vein of badassery, flooding us with synthy tsunamis that we’re totally okay with being overwhelmed by. It’s objectively impossible not to vibe the tune, the producer-extraodinaire coming through with one of his greatest hits to date.
Yuto. – ‘Slow’
Indie-electro duo Yuto paint with the most soothing of brushes on ‘Slow,’ churning out a familiar yet innovative electro bop that caresses the heart in a million spots at once. Linking up with Melbourne vocalist Priya Francis, the brothers get playful with their sonic canvas, drawing some killer staccato style synths in the hook that perfectly expand and minimise where necessary, maximising and supporting where needed. Priya’s vocals flutter ever so warmly on the track as well, gliding in the most graceful of fashions as she totally entrances you, lingering on your mind for days on end. The tune is intricate, mellow and just totally wavy. Definitely check it out.
Taj Ralph – ‘Walls 2 Break’
Sydney singer-songrwriter Taj Ralph surfs the breeziest of waves in ‘Walls 2 Break,’ putting his musical prowess to transcendent use with glittery guitars and serene AF vocals. The young talent starts off with a super cruisy beat before carefully bringing in the various layers of his creative vision, revelling in sweet precision that’s just so satisfying to see unfold right in front of you. By the time you reach the that hook, you really appreciate the delicacy of his compositional prowess, the various elements shifting perfectly to create a totally sweet but badass tune that’s just perfect for your next night time drive.
MUKI – ‘Level Mind Fuck’ (LMF)
Sydney dream-catcher MUKI floats amongst cyber-punk clouds in ‘Level Mind Fuck,’ coming through with a total heater that pushes the word ‘sonic’ to new and exciting heights. The tune manages to feel both dark and dangerous while comforting and inviting, the young talent perfectly crossing across genre and mood with effortless execution that you can tell she’s spent years honing and perfecting. It’s so unpredictable but it works so damn well, the tune building in vibrancy with every vocal, harmony, effect and compositional flicker of the electronic heartbeat. It’s straight up beautiful, definitely check it out.
