One of the most influential rappers of all time…

King of the underground and one of the most important rappers of all time MF DOOM has passed away at 49, according to a post to his Instagram made by his wife Jasmine. The post came two months after DOOM’s (real name Daniel Dumile) death on October 31, which his family is yet to elaborate on beyond the statement.

Taking to Instagram, his wife wrote “To Dumile, The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for. Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off.”

“Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be. My world will never be the same without you. Words will never express what you and (the couple’s son) Malachi mean to me, I love both and adore you always. May THE ALL continue to bless you, our family and the planet. All my Love, Jasmine.”

The London-born rapper was responsible for a wide-ranging and eclectic body of work, with albums like Mm … Food and Madvillainy achieving cult-like status for their legendary flows and rhymes that have inspired so many over the years. Since his death he’s been described as “Your favourite MC’s MC,’ which is just totally dead-on.

It’s safe to say the hip hop world has been absolutely shattered by the news, with countless rappers such as Denzel Curry, Tyler The Creator and numerous more taking to social media to pay tribute to the icon. It definitely caps off a year of devastation across the world and entertainment industries, which numerous fans have since picked up on.
