Billie Eilish and Rosalía have been teasing their long-awaited collab ‘Lo Vas A Olvidar’ for ages now, ever since the pair were first spotted in the studio together in 2019. Then, it looked like the single was ready to drop in April of 2020, but of course, the world was kinda going to shit around then, so naturally they decided to push it back. Now however the tune is out in the world, and no cap, but it’s absolutely stunning in every sense of the word.
Directed by Nabil, the video sees the two singers in separate landscapes, illuminated by spotlights as they sing the song in all of its sweet tenderness. The video gets frenzied in terms of shots as well, going from frighteningly close to super far away, capturing this organic ‘one-take’ feeling (although this probably took a tonne of work to pull off) that’s just perfect for the ‘Letting go’ theme of the tune itself.
Vocally, the song itself sees the two singers alternating between English and Spanish, backed by minimal synths and instrumentation. As we’ve come to expect from Rosalía and Eilish, their vocals soar and reach mad heights as well, but still remain within a distinct sphere of softness for the verses that’s totally soothing and cathartic.
Ahead of the song’s release, Rosalia opened up on working with Eilish and how she impressed her in the studio, saying “She’s an artist with such a strong drive, who knows exactly who she is and what she wants, who pours her soul out when she sings.
“I’ve been in the studio with a lot of people, but no one has impressed me the way she has. She has extreme charisma and extreme passion when she sings.”
