It’s fair to say that when the prospect of lockdown loomed across the world last year, countless individuals and families began stocking up on grocery items, fearing they’d be locked in their houses for god knows how long. Most of this hoarding revolved around toilet paper, cleaning products and non-perishable foods, and it seems millionaire-celebrities got in on the action as well (Billie Eilish did anyway).
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Eilish opened up on how she started online shopping in lockdown, which inevitably helped her realise ‘how to adult,’ and more specifically, how much things should cost. In other words, she realised that in no fucking universe should a box of cereal cost $35 USD ($45 AUD), and that she would never need 70 boxes of cereal in lockdown.
Speaking to the magazine, she said “I don’t know what things cost because I’ve never been an adult before. And, you know, I grew up with no money.”
“It’s a really weird position I’m in. I feel kind of stupid because I’m like, I don’t know how much Froot Loops are. I tried to order one box of Froot Loops and I was like, ‘Oh yeah, sure. It’s $35.‘ I didn’t know that that’s expensive. I ordered 70 boxes.”
To make things even worse, they weren’t even regular sized boxes, rather, the single serve boxes that look cute AF, but in terms of value for money, are straight up terrible.
The interview also saw the young star talk about sobriety, and how her experiences with her mates early on pushed her away from drugs and alcohol, saying “When I was growing up and I was around my group of friends back then, and they would all be drinking and smoking and doing drugs and whatever, I think because of the way that my personality is – I’m a very strong-willed person, and I think at the time I was very alpha – I’m coming to realise that I may have felt a feeling of superiority.”
But, it looks like that whole social dilemma isn’t even that much of a problem for Eilish anymore, especially given that there are literally no parties anymore (thanks corona) as well as the fact that, well, she’s Billie Eilish. It’s kinda impossible for her to go to parties as it is.
Pretty sick. Watch her get even more personal with Vanity Fair in a Slow Zoom interview below:
