If you need any additional proof that Keanu Reeves was a total badass in every sense of the word, we’re about to lay the law down on you. Less than two weeks after the first issue of his Brzrkr comic hit shelves in early March, Netflix has already jumped on board, green lighting a live-action film and anime series, both starring Reeves. It makes sense on Netflix’s part, especially considering Brzrkr has already sold a whopping 615,000 copies and seems to be a huge hit with the masses.
The projects will reportedly be an “expansion” of the comic that Reeves wrote, and it appears to have a whole lot of gore, with the official synopsis reading ‘“Brzrkr” (pronounced “berserker”) is described as a “brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior’s 80,000 year fight through the ages. The man known only as ‘B’ (Reeves) is half-mortal and half-god, cursed and compelled to violence… even at the sacrifice of his sanity.
‘But after wandering the earth for centuries, B may have finally found a refuge – working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, B will be granted the one thing he desires – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence…and how to end it.’
Sounds like the most Keanu Reeves thing possible, and no doubt he’s gonna bring that extra oomph to the role, since it’s literally one he created. And judging by a recent interview he did with USA Today where he excitedly said “I’d love to play Berzerker!” when asked about the possibility of it heading to the live action realm, it’s gonna be every bit as ridiculous as you could hope for.
