It’s the year of The Veronicas…

In a year that’s set to see the return of Aussie live music in all of its glory and ridiculousness, multi-platinum badasses The Veronicas are storming out the gates to stake their claim in the upcoming renaissance. We’re not at all exaggerating, as the duo (made up of twins Jessica and Lisa Origlasso) today release a new single, announce not one, but TWO upcoming studio albums, and, get ready, let slip news of a banging tour across some of the nations finest venues.

Pretty bloody intense for only one morning , so we’ll walk you step-by-step through their plans for world domination, which all start with today’s first single ‘GODZILLA.’ Named after the first album, the tune sees the Veronica’s revive their legendary writing trio with Toby Gad, whom they haven’t worked with since their timeless hit ‘Untouched’. Of course, the song is filled to the brim with pulsing guitars that call it back to the 2007 classic, along with some piercing vocals and hard-hitting lyrics that cross perfectly between pop and punk rock.

Now for the albums. GODZILLA is the first of the pair, with HUMAN being the second, respectively arriving on May 28th and July 2nd. GODZILLA will see the Veronica’s fully revel in their high octane alter egos, projecting the total rowdiness that has defined their recent domination of the nation’s finest festivals. HUMAN however will see them strip it back to their bare roots, opting for more vulnerable lyrics and tunes that are set to show the twins as totally range-less in their creative and emotional output. And in an effort to hype you up even more for today’s offering and the upcoming first album, the duo released a kick ass trailer for GODZILLA this morning titled ‘The Veronicas – GODZILLA is coming,’ and it features the Veronicas as you’ve always wanted to see them – towering over skyscrapers as they walk through a crowded cityscape of course.

And to put a bedazzled bow on top, their upcoming ‘GODZILLA V HUMAN’ tour (the only name that makes sense), will see the duo take their albums on the road, but with a special twist. Specifically, they’ll be splitting the show into two parts, following suit of the sonic pulses of albums to provide punters with a totally holistic experience; reaffirming their place among the top-tier Aussie live acts that have come before.

From Hordern Pavilion in Sydney to Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane and HBF Stadium in Perth, the twins will be on the go to say the least throughout the middle of the year, and we’d honestly have it no other way.

But we get it, it’s a lot to take in for a Friday morning. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Tickets for all shows go on sale 12pm on the 31st of march. But if you’re a Live Nation member, you’ll be able to slide in early for the pre sale which begins at 11am on the 29th of March.
