Proving that he’s indeed one of the all-time EDM GOATS, Canadian sonic wizard deadmau5 has unleashed his first solo ‘Nextra’ single off his hau5trap label, and it’s a total home-run. Arranged with steady grooves, gentle kicks and colourful synths (and of course, enough glitches to take you back to the days of Limewire), the tune sees deadmau5 get more minimal with his sonic palette, and consequently, more refined.
That mantra seems to speak to the hau5trap ethos, which zeros in on “textural, groove driven, melodic sounds” with deadmau5 himself adding “With hau5trap, we get to support more things we love specifically in house music.” I mean, who’s not gonna be a fan of that?
The tune is the second offering from the label as a whole, the first being ‘Hiiigh’ from Tommy Trash and singer/songwriter Daisy Guttridge, which will no doubt be played at the day of the deadmau5, a three-day festival scheduled for Miami in October.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Check the new tune here:
