The man has been trying to wake us up for over 50 years…

Sir David Attenborough is back with a new Netflix doco titled Breaking Boundaries, and it’s easily his most urgent yet. Linking up with scientist Johan Rockström for the 75-minute feature, the 95-year-old examines everything from the biodiversity collapse of the Earth to how it can be avoided and everything in between (there’s an ungodly amount in between).

A full synopsis for the film reads Breaking Boundaries tells the story of the most important scientific discovery of our time – that humanity has pushed Earth beyond the boundaries that have kept Earth stable for 10,000 years, since the dawn of civilisation.

“The 75-minute film takes the audience on a journey of discovery of planetary thresholds we must not exceed, not just for the stability of our planet, but for the future of humanity. It offers up the solutions we can and must put in place now if we are to protect Earth’s life support systems.”

The production for the doco is pretty expansive as well, featuring interviews from countless experts while making reference to swarms of literature and data, along with some vibrant images of nature (along with some pretty depressing ones of what mankind has done to the environment). We also get a reference for the decade in which everything will be decided, with 2021-2030 being the crucial period in which humans basically need to get their shit together.

Definitely an important watch. Check out the full trailer below and be sure to watch the full doco when it drops on Netflix on June 4.
