An attendee at Kanye’s ‘DONDA’ listening party last week is memorialising the event with an expensive relic; a ziplocked bag of air from the sold-out concert. Kanye took over the Mercedes-Benz stadium on Thursday to unveil what will be his tenth studio album, but the eBay sale of Yeezy oxygen promises fans more than just a taste of his music.
User imacanon16canz is auctioning off the “Bag of Air From Donda Drop” for $2,750 AUD, verified only by an image of the concert-goer holding said air in the moshpit of the Atlanta stadium. Bids on the memorabili-air have increased in the days since its initial listing, but the cash-grab is not without precedent.
In 2015, a like minded fan bagged air from Kanye’s ‘Yeezy’ tour, and reportedly bagged an additional $60,000 in the following sale. And while it’s not exactly known what one does with a ziplock’s worth of breathy molecules (hang it on the mantelpiece?), the imminent eBay sale shows just how eager fans are for Ye’s prolonged album release.
In true Kanye fashion, ‘DONDA’ has yet to appear on streaming services despite its slated release for last week. Online speculation has indicated that the LP will instead drop early next month, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath (unless they plan to sell it on eBay later).
